Covalent attachment of small organometallic molecules to COOH-MWCNTs was successfully achieved using the described methods of EDC/NHS coupling. A qualitative yield was achieved which allowed for a unique route to create redox active MWCNTs. After exploration of different reaction conditions, an optimal pH of 4.8 was discovered (c.f. 5.5 as reported) using our adducts. This versatile procedure can be applied to everything from materials science to peptide coupling.
