Structure and Stability of Water Soluble (NH4)8[Ti4(C6H4O7)4(O2)4]·8H2O

The crystal structure of ammonium citratoperoxotitanate(IV) (NH 4 ) 8 [Ti 4 (C 6 H 4 O 7 ) 4 (O 2 ) 4 ]·8H 2 O was solved and refined using single-crystal X-ray data. The compound can be easily prepared in the solid form, and its water-based solutions are stable over a broad range of pH values. A novel stereochemical coordination of titanium is responsible for the high stability of this compound in the presence of water. The described titanium complex has potential applications in convenient syntheses of various titanates through aqueous precursors.
