Synthesis of High-Brightness Sub-micrometer Y2O2S Red Phosphor Powders by Complex Homogeneous Precipitation Method

Sub-micrometer particles of Y 2 O 2 S phosphor were prepared by a complex homogeneous precipitation method employing hydrolysis of urea in the presence of various diols with successive heat treatments in a sulfur atmosphere provided by a Na 2 CO 3 −S mixture at 700−1200 °C. Such specimens demonstrated high emission brightness superior to the excellent commercial Y 2 O 2 S phosphor.
